Captain Barbra Banda scored a brace as Zambia overcame Senegal 3-2 to move closer to a quarter-final spot at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Wednesday (9 July) in Mohammedia, Morocco as matchday two got underway in the women's football tournament.Senegal took an early lead in the 5th minute through Nguenar Ndiaye but Zambia responded quickly through captain Barbra Banda, who equalised in the 12th minute after a well-placed pass from Racheal Kundananji.Kundananji then put Zambia ahead early in the second half with a composed finish, before Banda scored her second of the night in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1.Senegal stayed in the game, with Ndiaye converting a penalty for her fourth goal of the tournament, but it wasn't enough.Zambia held on for their first win of the competition, thanks in part to key saves from goalkeeper Ng’ambo Musole.
