Where Kobbie Mainoo would rank in Man Utd's top earners if he gets way with £200k demand

Emerging Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could soon become the club's joint-fifth-highest earner.

Reports suggest the club have reached a contract deadlock with Mainoo’s representatives, who are demanding an eye-watering £200,000 a week on his new deal. Chelsea are reportedly waiting in the wings amid claims United may need to sell homegrown talent to ensure they comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The 19-year-old - who is contracted to the club until 2027 - was one of United’s standout performers last season under Erik ten Hag and scored a crucial goal in their FA Cup final win over Manchester City. Early signs this term indicate Mainoo could become integral as new manager Ruben Amorim implements his system at Old Trafford.

Mainoo’s alleged demands reflect his desire for a deal that accurately reflects his status as a first-team regular and England international. But with the young star demanding such a significant wage, Mirror Football looks at how his proposed salary would compare to the Red Devils’ litany of top-paid stars.

Casemiro is United’s current highest earner, with the Brazilian collecting a staggering £350,000 a week. The soon-to-be 33-year-old has shown glimpses of the brilliance he displayed during his trophy-laden Real Madrid career, but doubts remain over whether he has the legs to thrive in Amorim's system.

For now, he continues to rake in just under £20million a year, with his contract set to expire in June 2026. Trailing Casemiro are United captain Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, whose future at the club is also in doubt this January amid links to AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

Mason Mount is United’s fourth-highest earner, having signed from Chelsea for £55m on a five-year deal in 2023. And while Mount pockets £250,000 a week, United have yet to see much return on their investment.

Having managed just 20 appearances and one goal in his debut season, persistent injuries have continued to plague the England international. He has managed 12 appearances this season and just one 90-minute outing for the club.

If Mainoo’s demands are met, he would join £86m signing Antony as the club’s fifth-highest earner on £200,000 a week. Antony - considered by many to be one of United’s all-time worst signings - is locked into a five-year deal but is rumoured to be exploring a January exit as the club considers cutting their losses.

Summer signings Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui - brought in by Amorim's predecessor, Erik ten Hag - are on £195,000 and £135,000 a week, respectively. Meanwhile, ex-skipper Harry Maguire - who recently triggered a clause in his contract to extend his stay by one year - earns a reported £189,000 a week.

Christian Eriksen and the rarely seen Luke Shaw follow next with weekly wages of £150,000 a piece. Meanwhile, the quartet of Manuel Ugarte, Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are each pulling in a reported £120,000 a week.

Amad Diallo has undoubtedly been United's standout performer under Amorim, but the 22-year-old is on a much more modest wage of just £28,000 a week. Like Mainoo, however, the Ivorian is expected to put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract in the coming weeks as the Amorim's rebuild gathers pace.

Manchester United's weekly wages if Mainoo gets his £200,000-a-week wish:

Casemiro - £350,000 Bruno Fernandes - £300,000 Marcus Rashford - £300,000 Mason Mount - £250,000 Kobbie Mainoo - £200,000 Antony - £200,000 Matthijs de Ligt - £195,000 Harry Maguire - £189,904 Christian Eriksen - £150,000 Luke Shaw - £150,000 Noussair Mazraoui - £135,000 Victor Lindelof - £120,000 Lisandro Martinez - £120,000 André Onana - £120,000 Manuel Ugarte - £120,000 Leny Yoro - £115,000 Joshua Zirkzee - £105,000 Diogo Dalot - £85,000 Rasmus Højland - £85,000 Tyrell Malacia - £75,000 Jonny Evans - £65,000 Alejandro Garnacho - £50,000 Tom Heaton - £45,000 Altay Bayindir - £35,000 Amad Diallo - £28,846 Toby Collyer - £5000 Daniel Gore - £5000
