Erik ten Hag has not yet returned to management since leaving Manchester United but is attracting interest in Germany.

Another turbulent Manchester United season is coming towards its close and Ruben Amorim has a chance to end the campaign with a trophy.

United face Athletic Club in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday, with a place in the final up for grabs.

Winning the tournament would send United into the Champions League next season, providing an enormous boost to United’s potential overhaul under Amorim.

The jury is still out on Amorim for many fans, but he has a chance to finish the season with a flourish.

Bayer Leverkusen consider Erik ten Hag move

Ten Hag has been linked with a number of jobs of late.

Feyenoord considered a controversial move for Ten Hag given his Ajax ties, but ended up hiring former United striker Robin Van Persie instead.

Borussia Dortmund also explored appointing Ten Hag, only to judge him to be too expensive and appoint Niko Kovac.

Speculation over Ten Hag’s future has died down of late, but Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg now claims that Bayer Leverkusen are infested in the Dutchman.

Xabi Alonso is wanted by Real Madrid and could leave Leverkusen for the Spanish capital this summer.

Ten Hag is now being viewed as a potential replacement, with Plettenberg noting that the former United boss is a ‘serious candidate’ for Leverkusen.

This would be a major move for Ten Hag given Leverkusen’s success under Xabi Alonso, but he could lose a key player to United this summer.

Manchester United want Patrik Schick

Ten Hag would be inheriting a fine squad at Leverkusen, but United could snatch one of their top performers.

Recent reports suggest that United are interested in striker Patrik Schick, who has been outstanding for Leverkusen this season.

The Czech forward has smashed 25 goals in all competitions this season, including 19 in the Bundesliga.

United may see the 29-year-old as an instant-impact player in the final third, with Schick hailed as a ‘wonderful’ striker by former Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller, as quoted by Get German Football.

Ten Hag would hate to lose Schick, if he does land the Leverkusen job, and would certainly loathe to see him depart for United.

This is a move to keep a close eye on, with United potentially ready to pounce and make Ten Hag’s job a little more difficult.
