Image credit: XConcussion Substitute rule and moreTeams will now have to specify a concussion substitute in advance. Additionally, a player suffering from concussion will have to stand-down for at least seven days before returning to play. In an effort to make concessions to a bowler who is seen moving around before or during a delivery, a new wide ball rule will be implemented across white-ball formats. As part of the changes, the position of the batsman's feet at the point of delivery will now be used as the reference point for a wide, even if the batsman subsequently moves to the off side. The trial will see a ball that passes the popping crease between the leg stump and the protected area marker will not be called wide. To help with this, the protected area marker line will be extended to the popping crease and will serve as a guide for umpires.
