With five-time champions CSK in hunt for a reliable and long-term replacement for their talisman MS Dhoni, a legendary wicketkeeper-batter, there were claims of Sanju Samson’s being looked at as an option.Samson has been captaining RR for some time now besides being their first-choice wicketkeeper-batter, occasional opener and a top-order batter. At the IPL 2018 auction, RR again picked him at his base price of Rs 18 crore and three years later, he was named as their captain.
