Women’s Tennis Central: #7 Tennessee vs. #15 Texas and #2 Texas A&M

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The seventh-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team is looking to defend its home courts as it welcomes No.15 Texas and No. 2 Texas A&M at Barksdale Stadium. The Lady Vols will face the Longhorns at 5 p.m. on Friday, before playing the Aggies at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Last weekend, the Lady Volunteers swept both their opponents, notching 4-0 decisions over both No. 25 Alabama and No. 64 Mississippi State. The victory against the Crimson Tide marked head coach Alison Ojeda 's 200th career win. She is the third Tennessee head coach, alongside Mike Patrick and Sonia Hahn, to reach that career milestone.

Catherine Aulia and Vanesa Suarez each carded a flawless weekend, tallying two singles wins and two doubles victories apiece. Aulia and Suarez both secured their singles wins in straight-set affairs.

Saray Yli-Piipari logged her first-ever singles win on Rocky Top and second conference win of her career, defeating Alabama's Margaux Maquet, 6-1, 6-4. The freshman also produced a doubles win with partner Conley Raidt in a 7-6(3) affair versus Alabama's Margaux Maquet and Maria Andrrienko.

Tennessee has knocked off 10 ranked opponents thus far, defeating No. 15 Ohio State, No. 15 Pepperdine, No.4 Stanford, No. 67 Kentucky, No. 71 Ole Miss, No. 25 South Carolina, No. 70 Arkansas, No. 12 Oklahoma, No. 25 Alabama and No. 64 Mississippi State. Six of those results are against top-25 foes, including four over top-15 teams.

A PEEK AT THE CHARTS: The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on March 25 that the squad is No. 7 in the eighth poll of 2025. The following members of the team were ranked in the third spring ITA individual poll posted on March 18, 2025:

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS: Texas leads the all-time series against the Lady Vols, 11-2. Both of Tennessee's wins have come in Knoxville. The last time the two teams met was in Knoxville on January 30, 2010, when UT posted a 4-1 victory. The Longhorns own a 10-8 overall record and a 4-5 conference mark so far in 2025.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES: Texas A&M possesses a 15- 7 edge over the Lady Vols, with four of those victories coming in Knoxville. The two teams met last season in the NCAA Final Four on May 18, 2024. The Aggies recorded a 4-1 victory over the Lady Vols in Stillwater, Okla., and went on to win the national title. Texas A&M has a 17-2 overall record and an 8-1 conference mark thus far.
