NEW DELHI: The IPL 2026 mini-auction is likely to happen in Abu Dhabi in the third week of December. It is reliably learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has identified the December 15-16 window to hold the event, and it will continue to be held overseas for the third year running. The last two IPL auctions were held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, respectively, and this year it will be Abu Dhabi's turn to host the franchises as they look to plug the holes ahead of the upcoming IPL season. There were discussions around holding an auction in India, but the trend of hosting it overseas will continue for now.

Sanju Samson IPL trade: How conversations moved from DC to CSK, and included Ravindra Jadeja

The deadline to finalise the retentions for the 10 teams is November 15, and a high-profile trade between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals is nearing completion. It is in the final stages right now and will likely be announced soon. Sanju Samson is all set to move base to CSK, while RR will have the services of Ravindra Jadeja from the next season. RR have been in discussions with multiple franchises for the Samson move, and after negotiations ended abruptly with DC, the team has been in constant touch with CSK. As far as the Women's Premier League is concerned, the auction will take place in Delhi on November 27. The franchises have already announced their retention and are set to finalise the squads at the auction later this month.
