NEW DELHI: India rang in four major changes to their playing XI for the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England at The Oval on Thursday, aiming for a series-leveling victory. Under overcast skies, England stand-in skipper Ollie Pope won the toss and elected to field first, handing the hosts yet another toss win in the series. While India captain Shubman Gill initially announced three changes at the toss, it was later confirmed that India had made four. Gill forgot to mention that Akash Deep had been included in place of Anshul Kamboj. The three changes Gill did list were Dhruv Jurel, Karun Nair, and Prasidh Krishna coming in for Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur, and Jasprit Bumrah.“Don't mind losing the toss as long as we win the game,” Gill said. “Was a bit confused yesterday about what to do, was a bit overcast but the wicket looks good. We'll look to post good runs in the first innings. The boys are looking for one final push and will be giving it their all.”Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj.England, too, fielded a refreshed side with Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson, and Josh Tongue among the inclusions. Pope, leading the side in the absence of regular skipper Ben Stokes, said: “Bit overcast, no-brainer to have a bowl. We bat deep, Gus and Overton have got runs. We're not going to contend with 2-2, we want to win it.”Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (c), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue. With England leading the five-match series 2-1, India must win at The Oval to salvage a 2-2 draw and end the tour on a high.
