H By Henry Hanson 45' Dragons pushing hard H By Henry Hanson It's a really hot start to the second half from St George Illawarra. David Klemer - back on the field after passing that HIA - has been a menace and has been charging his team forward. The Dragons are awarded a couple six agains and the Sharks are struggling to hang on. 42' Suli ruled out H By Henry Hanson Not good news for the Dragons. Moses Suli has not returned to the field for the second half. He's sitting on the bench and out of his playing clothes. We're hearing he's been ruled out with a knee injury. We're back underway in Kogarah H By Henry Hanson The Dragons have first use of the ball as the Sharks kick-off. 'Ask the rulebook' says Gutherson H By Henry Hanson St. George Illawarra captain Clint Gutherson is talking to Fox as he's leaving the field for half-time. He's happy with his team's performance, but unsure of the legitimacy of that controversial Teig Wilton penalty try. "Ask the rulebook," Gutherson says. What do we all think? Melbourne was awarded a very similar decision on Thursday night. HT: Dragons 16 -14 Sharks H By Henry Hanson (Getty Images) What an exciting first half of rugby league. The plucky Dragons have been excellent, looking every bit a match for their more-fancied local rivals. Emre Guler scored his first try for St George Illawarra to get things underway in Kogarah, Tyrell Sloan finished an excellent team move, and 19-year-old Hayden Buchanan went over on his first grade debut. However, it wasn't all good news for the Dragons, with Moses Suli receiving some treatment and hobbling off late in that first half. For the Sharks, they'll need to improve if they are to record their fifth win on the bounce. Buchanan scores on NRL debut! H By Henry Hanson And the Dragons are back in front! What a moment for the 19-year-old. St George Illawarra is once again slick going forward. Lyhkan King-Togia charges through a couple tackles, could probably have scored himself, but lays off the ball to Hayden Buchanan. The on-rushing debutant slides over and the Dragons lead once more! Kyle Flanagan misses the kick. Dragons 16 Sharks 14 32' Sharks go in front after contentious Bunker review H By Henry Hanson For a moment, it looked like Cronulla would be awarded its second penalty try of the afternoon. William Kenedy had performed a clever little chip and chase into the Dragons' goal area. The fullback couldn't quite reach his own kick, but it looked he may have been impeded by the retreating Luciano Leilua. The decision goes to the Bunker. There's contact, but it's not too egregious or consequential. It's a penalty but no penalty try. The Sharks take the kick and Nicho Hynes nails it. 27' Dragons level things up H By Henry Hanson The Dragons are awarded a penalty for the Sharks not clearing the ruck about 20m out and just to the right of the sticks. Sloppy stuff from the visitors. Kyle Flanagan opts to take the kick and he nails it. 12 all. 25' Klemmer passes HIA H By Henry Hanson Word is David Klemmer has passed his HIA and he re-enters the field of play. Hame Sele makes way. Dragons over for their second! H By Henry Hanson It's beautiful football from the Dragons. The ball is worked out through a series of St George Illawarra hands from the centre to the right and Tyrell Sloan is the extra man wide on the right. The number two has green grass ahead of him and is able to slide over for the Dragon's second of the day. (Getty Images) The conversion is missed. Dragons 10 Sharks 12 Wilton scores penalty try in his 100th game! H By Henry Hanson A high Sharks kick is gathered by a leaping Teig Wilton, he's falling and is tackled mid-air by Tyrell Sloan. He falls in the goal-area, it's given no try, but it's sent to the bunker. Sloan is penalised for his mid-air tackle and a penalty try is awarded. That's a contentious one - there really wasn't a whole lot in it. An easy conversion is slotted by Nicho Hynes. Dragons 6 Sharks 12 15' Category two concussion for Klemer H By Henry Hanson 13' Klemmer off the field for HIA H By Henry Hanson He copped a knock a couple plays ago and has been ushered off the field for assessment. Hame Sele is on in his place. We'll keep you updated. Sharks hit back! H By Henry Hanson Corey Allan is caught in the tackle and the ball flies out of his grasp 20m out from the Dragons line. Some quick hands see the Sharks scythe through an ill-prepared Dragons back-line. Prop Braden Hamlin-Uele is the man to go over for Cronulla. The conversion is good and we are as we were in Kogarah. Dragons take the lead! H By Henry Hanson And it's Emre Guler's first try for the Red V! Off the back of that penalty moments earlier, Damien Cook receives the ball out of dummy half and threads through a grubber that Guler is haring after. He dives, gets a hand to it, and the Dragons take an unlikely early lead. The conversion is good. Dragons 6 Sharks 0 3' Sharks pressing early H By Henry Hanson It's been a solid start from Cronulla Sutherland, who have been gaining good ground with the ball and penning the Dragons in without it. St George Illawarra is given a much needed penalty for some high contact and has a chance to build its first attack of the day. We're underway in Kogarah H By Henry Hanson The Dragons kick off and the Sharks have first use of the ball. Addin Fonua-Blake gathers cleanly and charges forward. Players stride out onto the field in Kogarah H By Henry Hanson And it's a really nice image, with both the men's and women's teams entering the field with arms interlocked. Of course, these sides faced off just earlier in the women's competition. They are all partaking in a smoking ceremony as part of Indigenous Round. The Welcome to Country is concluded with a "go the Dragons!" Show more posts
