Manchester United are putting a lot of work into their transfer business ahead of the summer but what they can do rests solely on the outcome of their Europa League final with Tottenham Hotspur.

Ruben Amorim's men go into next week's showdown in Bilbao knowing they will be able to significantly improve the playing squad if they have Champions League football to offer.

Much has been made of what United need to do when the window opens. Limited funds mean the business has to be spot on and the early signs point towards a huge window for the club.

However, United must sign players that fit into Amorim's fluid 3-4-2-1 system and that is pivotal. So with that in mind, MEN Sport takes a look at two latest transfer stories that have done the rounds in the last 24 hours.

Surprise Forest swoop

On the subject of players fitting into Amorim's system, United are keeping an eye on the situation between Callum Hudson-Odoi and Nottingham Forest.

Sky Sports' Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that United are one of the teams keen on the winger, who has revived his career at the City Ground. Forest are in talks over a new contract with his current deal up at the end of next season.

Roma, Napoli and another Premier League team are also said to be interested.

MEN Sport's Josh Holland says: "United's current system under Amorim has already seen Antony and Marcus Rashford axed. The 3-4-2-1 doesn't supplement wingers so a move for Hudson-Odoi makes little sense.

"However, his lightning pace and decent wide play does make him an attractive option. It's hard to believe that he's only 24 after seeming to be around for years..

"Alejandro Garnacho has played in one of the attacking midfielder slots this season, so it can work. But the Argentine hasn't hit the levels expected from him this season. When United needs players in other positions, I'm not sure how much they need to spend on a player like Hudson-Odoi."

Ederson alternative available

Atalanta midfielder Ederson is one of United's reported midfield targets but sources in Italy have suggested that Juventus' Douglas Luiz could be a player they look to bring to Old Trafford.

Luiz joined the Old Lady last summer but his move hasn't worked out. TuttoSport (via Sport Witness) claim that a number of English teams have monitored his situation and United remain in the background over a potential move - and the report adds that Juve are open to agreeing a deal.

Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are said to have already taken initial steps to bring the Brazilian back to the Premier League.

MEN Sport's Josh Holland says: "When Luiz left Villa for Juventus, it had the feeling of a player leaving the Premier League for a big club. It's not working and now Villa are in a much better place.

"If United could bring him to Old Trafford, Amorim may have the perfect partner for Manuel Ugarte. A solid defensive midfielder, a set-piece specialist and tidy playmaker, Luiz can do it all.

"Ederson could cost a significant part of their transfer budget, Atalanta won't want to lose him. Luiz could be cheaper. United should be all over it."
