Son Heung-Min has sent a rapid fire response to his former Tottenham teammates after they lost to PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final.

After a decade at the club, former Spurs captain Son left to join LAFC in a record-breaking MLS deal after finally delivering on his promise by winning the Europa League.

The victory booked the Lilywhites a place in the Champions League next season but not before taking on the competition’s victors PSG in the Super Cup final.

Unfortunately, the Korean’s previous employer could not find the strength to beat the French side, losing 4-3 on penalties after 2-2 in extra time.

Son Heung-Min ‘proud’ of the team after a dogged performance

Taking to Instagram stories (13 August), the forward quickly posted his thoughts on what was a spirited performance by his old side.

Despite the result, the ex-Bayer Leverkusen winger encouraged Spurs to be optimistic and continue looking forward, saying: “So proud of you team!

Considering the Lilywhites were not even thought of as possible contenders against the best side in Europe, a 2-2 draw is still a respectable result, despite conceding two late goals late on.

In a short space of time, Thomas Frank has already instilled remarkable improvements, epitomised by the tactical versatility, doggedness and last ditch defending.

The north London club are certainly not the finished article, but going toe-to-toe with arguably the best attack in the world, limiting them to chances, it highly commendable.

Looking ahead to the new season, there is a great cause for optimism at White Hart Lane as the side looks to push on and reach new heights by aiming to be better competitors in not just the European competition but also domestically.

The loss of Son will leave a hole at Tottenham, but there will be new leaders who will step up and “Dare to do”.

The Danish manager has shown he could be the key to bringing about a new look Spurs going forward in the future, but after just three months it is unfair to write the project off already.
