Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has been vocal in his criticism of the Glazer family and their running of the football club with the Frenchman recently tipped to be involved in a potential takeoverManchester United icon Eric Cantona has already revealed his honest thoughts on the Glazer family and their management of the football club. The Old Trafford favourite has been linked with a potential takeover at United amid fresh investment talk from the Middle East.During the international break, takeover rumours sparked when Saudi sports kingpin Turki Al-Sheikh stated an investor was close to striking a deal for the club. After clarifying that he was not the potential investor, it has since been reported that a UAE-based consortium has contacted several United legends about being part of a possible takeover. Cantona has been mentioned as one of the individuals included, potentially taking up an ambassadorial role that would see him support a prospective consortium. The Frenchman has been critical of both the Glazers and minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe in recent weeks. Back in April, Cantona made a drastic move that spoke volumes about his stance on the current state of affairs at United.Alongside members of his family, Cantona became the latest co-owner of FC United of Manchester. The manifesto on the club's website states that they hope to "create a football club which addresses the concerns which many Manchester United fans have had over the 17 years or more with how the club and football have developed, culminating in the club's takeover by Malcolm Glazer".The Northern Premier League club was established in 2005 and is fully owned by its supporters on a "one member, one vote" basis, with members voting on all major decisions, such as ticket prices and the design of playing shirts."We're delighted to welcome Eric and his family as our latest co-owners, joining over 2,000 other FC United fans who believe there's a better way for football - where clubs are runs with the interests of supporters and local communities at the heart of everything they do," a club spokesman said."Eric said he joined us because we're a club that does things differently - driven by fairness, inclusivity, and a commitment to putting people before profit. While our history is short, it's something we're already incredibly proud of - built by fans, for fans."Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.Make sure you don't miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
