The Indian football team beat Iraq 5-0 at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium in Thailand on Wednesday to maintain its perfect record in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers campaign.

Sangita Basfore (14’), Manisha Kalyan (44’), Karthika Angamuthu (47’), Nirmala Devi (64’) and Ratanbala Devi (80’) scored the goals for India in a one-sided match.

This was India’s third straight win in the continental qualifiers and keeps them atop Group B with nine points from three games and a goal difference of +22. The Blue Tigresses beat Mongolia 13-0 and Timor-Leste 4-0 in the earlier games.

The Indian women’s football team will face hosts Thailand in its final Group B match on Saturday in what could very well be a virtual shootoff to qualify for next year’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia.
