Play resumes in Purdue-Notre Dame game after lightning delay

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Play has resumed in Notre Dame’s home football game against Purdue, which is airing on WNDU, after a nearly two-hour lightning delay.

Play was suspended with 1:31 remaining in the second quarter.

The teams will play the remaining 1:31 in the second quarter, take a short break, then start the third quarter.

Therefore, the weather delay was essentially a halftime (albeit a very long one).

Notre Dame leads 35-23 at the end of two quarters.

Meanwhile, Indiana’s top 25 showdown against Illinois, which was scheduled to air on WNDU at 7:30 p.m., will start on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, due to the Purdue-Notre Dame delay.
