Not for the first time one suspects, an error with a two-point play has caused confusion and there is a row brewing as St. Senan's believed they had beaten Currow 0-24 to 1-20 in the Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Football Championship. The club had even put it up on its social media channels before the official score sent by the referee to Kerry GAA gave the result as 1-20 to 0-23, a draw. The match official is understood to have written down a two-pointer for St Senan's as a one-point score. He agreed that he had made the error but because the play had resumed and Currow had scored a point at the other end, it had to remain as a one-pointer.Currow GAA clarified the matter as they see it with their members on Sunday. A statement read: "Dear Members. In last night’s game in Brosna, a rule error occurred at the end of the match. The referee retrospectively awarded a 2-point score after play had restarted, during which Currow scored at the other end."Under GAA Playing Rules – Rule 6.1: 'Once play has restarted after a score or wide, no change can be made to the score previously awarded.' As this was a clear breach of the rules, the result has been amended and is now confirmed as a draw: 1-20 to 0-23. Currow will now play the losers of the Churchill v Listry game Away next weekend."However St Senan's are likely to appeal this result but a club official was not available for comment.Elsewhere Ballyduff, despite their county hurling final loss last Sunday, had too much for Waterville, winning 2-13 to 0-7. They will now play Reenard at home next weekend while Waterville will face Duagh, who beat Reenard last weekend away at the South Kerry venue. Also in Group 2, Listry had a crucial win over Churchill, 1-18 to 2-13, with Cathal O’Donoghue getting the Listry goal and three Murphy brothers — Eanna, Ruairi and Daire — playing leading roles. Churchill were deadly from two-point range and had goals from Jack Dolan and Ivan Parker. In Group 3, Ballymac beat Castlegregory and they are now in pole position as St Pats and Dromid Pearses finished on level terms, 1-16 to 2-13.In Group 4, Annascaul beat Brosna last weekend but in a cracking contest, Keel laid down a marker against Ardfert winning 1-15 to 1-11.Keel began in explosive fashion, with Kerry senior Keith Evans, always a huge threat, slicing through at pace before fisting over. When Liam Evans came up to notch his second point, the scoreboard read 1-6 to 0-0 and Ardfert were facing an uphill struggle. Earnán Ferris split the posts for their first score in the seventh minute.Nathan O'Driscoll added a superb two-pointer. Ardfert surged forward again and Colin Walsh neatly finished to the net for a great goal. Suddenly the gap was back down to three points and looked an awful lot more manageable.Good work by a lively Shane Evans saw Cian Flynn curl over a two-point free but Nathan O'Driscoll replied with a similar score from play. More good work by Shane Evans saw Flynn point from play, but Fionán Egan gathered from Seánie Brosnan to hit the last score of the opening half to leave it Keel 1-9 Ardfert 1-6 at the break.Keel were always on top in the second half and grabbed an important win, with Brosna away next while Annascaul will be home to Ardfert.
