Chelsea will kick off their FIFA Club World Cup campaign against MLS franchise Los Angeles FC. The Premier League side are to participate in what is their third-ever campaign in the continental competition and will do so in the first edition of the newly-expanded version.

The Blues enjoyed a successful end to their season where a run of eight wins in their last 12 league games saw them capture Champions League football next season in Enzo Maresca's first year in charge.

They also became the first club to win all three European competitions as they beat Real Betis 4-1 in the final of the Europa Conference League. The MLS side, on the other hand, currently sit fifth in the MLS Western Conference, but are unbeaten in their last nine league games.

In what will be their first match-up against Los Angeles FC, the two clubs are also joined by Brazilian side Flamengo and Tunisian league champions, Esperance Sportive de Tunis in Group D.

What time does Chelsea vs Los Angeles FC kick-off?

The Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta - the home of NFL franchise the Atlanta Falcons - will host Chelsea's clash against LAFC, with kick-off set for 8pm BST (UK time) and 3pm local (ET).

Chelsea's first experience of the Club World Cup came in 2012 after their triumph of the Champions League when they defeated Bayern Munich on penalties.

After defeating Monterrey 3-1 in the semi-finals, they faced Corinthians in the final but lost 1-0 to the Brazilian side, who won the honour for the second time.

The Blues returned to the competition in 2021 after defeating Manchester City 1-0 to capture their second Champions League title, in which they were more successful the second time round in the global tournament.

A 1-0 win over Al-Hilal saw them appear in a second final which they narrowly won 2-1 in extra-time against Palmeiras to become the third English team, after Manchester United and Liverpool, to win the Club World Cup.
