Tottenham have completed their first signing since appointing Thomas Frank as the club's new manager.

Despite enduring one of their worst-ever domestic campaigns Spurs ended the season on a high as Ange Postecoglou led the club to Europa League glory with victory over Manchester United.

However, the Australian was ultimately sacked just weeks after claiming the club's first silverware in nearly two decades and replaced by Thomas Frank.

The former Brentford boss will be looking to push on after arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur and has waited little time in preparing for next season.

With the new campaign on the horizon, Spurs have completed the signing of Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich, with the Frenchman agreeing a six-year contract.

Having found himself struggling for minutes at the Allianz Arena Tel initially arrived in north London in February, with Spurs paying a €10million (£8.5m) loan fee to secure the 20-year-old's services until the end of the campaign.

Tel spent the second part of the season on loan, netting three goals from 20 appearances

Tel would go on to make 20 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, scoring three goals.

Five of those appearances came in the club's victorious European campaign, however Tel was a non-playing substitute at last month's final in Bilbao.

Tel is currently representing his native France at the UEFA Under-21 European Championships in Slovakia, alongside his Spurs team-mate Wilson Odobert.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl thanked Tel for his efforts for the club after confirming his move to Tottenham.

'Mathys Tel came to FC Bayern as a very young player and took his first steps into top-level international football here,' Eberl said.

'He was a popular figure in our team, always giving his all for the club and the team.

'It has become clear that the move to Tottenham was the right one for his development. He will now continue on this path at Spurs.

'We thank him for his efforts in the FC Bayern jersey and wish him all the best for his future. Merci bien, Mathys'
