Newcastle United will be working hard behind the scenes as Eddie Howe's side prepares for life back in the Champions League next season.

While some of the Magpies' players are relaxing on holiday, others have now linked up with their international squads for the upcoming round of fixtures.

At St. James' Park, it's all systems go on the transfer front as the Newcastle transfer chiefs look to strengthen their squad.

Chronicle Live has taken a look at the latest transfer news and rumours doing the media rounds at the moment.

Liverpool 'make concrete offer' for Newcastle target

Moroccan outlet Le360 Sport claim Liverpool have made a concrete offer to sign Newcastle United transfer target Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal from Stade Rennais.

The report claims the Magpies have met with the player ahead of a potential summer move for the 19-year-old centre-back, who spent last season on loan with Ligue 2 side Amiens SC after joining in January, going on to make nine appearances.

The defender only left Morocco’s Mohammed VI Football Academy to sign for Stade Rennais in July 2024 but he's caught the eye of a number of clubs around Europe. The report claims OGC Nice and two unnamed clubs from La Liga are keen on signing him this summer, though his current contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Chronicle Live says: "Newcastle were first linked with a move for the young defender earlier this week and it does seem as though there's interest from the Magpies. Eddie Howe's side are keen on bringing in another defender to bolster their options at the back, though his lack of first-team football suggests he'll be one for the future, if the Toon are to make a move."

Pep Guardiola still keen on Tino Livramento

The Daily Mail claims Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are still keen on a move for Newcastle defender Tino Livramento who missed just one Premier League game last season.

The report claims City are admirers of the versatile defender after his £40million move from Southampton back in 2023, but know his lengthy contract will make negotiations difficult. That's before even taking into account the Magpies' stance of not for sale.

City have instead started to accelerate talks with Wolves to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri who claims to have told the Manchester club he wants to join and be signed before the Club World Cup starts.

Chronicle Live says: "A bit like transfer speculation surrounding Alexander Isak, this one feels like a non-starter. Tino Livramento has three years on his Newcastle deal remaining and has been a mainstay in Eddie Howe's side this season. It would have to be a deal for ludicrous money to even consider selling the 22-year-old. He's still nowhere near his prime and has such a high ceiling, the club would be foolish to even consider a departure."
