ADVERTISEMENTFrench President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Paris Saint-Germain football team to the presidential palace on Sunday to celebrate their historic Champions League win.Before meeting with Macron, PSG were paraded through the Champs-Elysee in an open roof coach bus.The team beat Italian side Inter Milan 5-0 in the tournament’s final the day prior in Munich.It was the first time PSG ever won the title – having coming up short in their only previous final against Bayern Munich in 2020.French authorities say two people died after celebrations erupted around the country following the team’s win.A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the city of Dax during a PSG street party, according to the national police.Another person was killed in Paris when his scooter was hit by a car during PSG celebrations, the interior minister’s office said. The circumstances of both deaths are being investigated.The interior ministry also said 18 police officer in Paris were injured and hundreds of people were arrested.Macron condemned the “unacceptable” violence which had occurred during celebrations following PSG’s victory as he welcomed the team to the Elysee Palace.“Nothing can justify what has happened in the last few hours, the violent clashes are unacceptable,” he said before congratulating the team.
