2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Sweden & Denmark, Announces Record-Breaking Official Fan Zones — Experience Various Activities, Enjoy Food and Drinks, and Watch Ice Hockey on Big Screen

A combined Official Fan Zone area of 30 000 square meter, featuring food market and bars, game viewing and music live acts, engaging activities offered by Official Sponsors and Partners or shops for Official Merchandise

As the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship approaches, excitement is building in Sweden and Denmark. In both countries, preparations are in full swing — including plans for the largest Official Fan Zone in Swedish and Danish Ice Hockey World Championship history.

Located next to the iconic Avicii Arena, the 12,000-square-meter Official Fan Zone in Stockholm will open on May 9, just in time for the tournament’s opening games. The same day, Herning’s Official Fan Zone, located directly by the Jyske Bank Boxen, will open. It includes adjacent exhibition halls to make it the biggest Official Fan Zone at 18 000 square meters.

Open daily until May 22 in Herning and May 25 in Stockholm, the two spaces will offer fans from across the globe a vibrant atmosphere filled with food, drinks, live entertainment, and big-screen broadcasts of all the key games.

"The scale of this activation reflects our ambition to make the 2025 IIHF WM unforgettable," says Johan Wirell, Official Fan Zone Manager for OC Stockholm. "We’re expecting around 300,000 fans to visit the area during the championship, and we’re excited to offer an experience that extends far beyond the arena itself."

“Our Official Fan Zone will be the ultimate gathering place for fans from all nations. It will be the largest Official Fan Zone ever, with plenty of activities for all ages. We also have an Official Fan Walk, where fans can walk together from the city center to the area around Jyske Bank Boxen – with exciting pitstops along the way. The Official Fan Zone will make this 2025 IIHF WM a complete experience in both Stockholm and Herning,” says Ulrik Larsen, CEO, OC Herning.

The entertainment schedule is already packed. In Stockholm, highlights include live performances from crowd favorites Rydell & Quick and ÅL IN BAND, interactive quizzes, and daily DJ sets. Fans will also have the chance to test their skills against world table hockey champion Göran Agdur, who will be on-site throughout the tournament. The Herning Official Fan Zone will offer a wide range of activities, such as stage talks, DJ, free hockey activities, competitions and a world class food and beverage corner.

Beaty, the Official Mascot, will take a stroll through the Official Fan Zones prior to each game. Further activities are designed to entertain fans of all ages. Official Sponsors and Official Partners activate fun games and competitions with the opportunity to win attractive prizes. And the Official Merchandising shops offer a wide range of fan gear for everyone to find their personal 2025 IIHF WM souvenir.

The Official Fan Zone in Stockholm will be located where the former Söderstadion football stadium once stood — a natural gathering point for fans heading to and from Avicii Arena. In Herning, the Official Fan Zone is located in front of Jyske Bank Boxen. Both will be open every day from early afternoon until late evening, offering a lively meeting place for fans regardless of whether they have game tickets.

More artists and activities will be announced as the tournament draws closer.
