27-year-old fast bowler Yash Dayal will not play in the third edition of the UP T20 League, which is set to start on August 17. According to a report in Dainik Jagran on August 9, Dayal, who played a big role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 title win earlier this year, will not represent the Gorakhpur Lions team, which signed him for Rs 7 lakh.

It has been reported that following the registration of a case against Dayal at the Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has banned him from participating in the upcoming UP T20 League.

According to a UPCA source, a case has been registered against Dayal, which is why the board doesn’t want him to play in the T20 league. The board has informed the franchise not to include him.

Dayal’s record in IPL

Dayal has played for two teams – Gujarat Titans and RCB – in the IPL and has dismissed 41 batters in 43 matches. He won the IPL title with GT in 2022 under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, and in that season, he picked up 11 wickets in nine matches. In 2023, he was hit for five sixes in the last five balls of the match by KKR batter Rinku Singh.

He joined RCB in the IPL 2024 auction and picked up 15 wickets for them in the 2024 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league. RCB retained Dayal ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and in the IPL this year, he accounted for the dismissal of 13 batters in 15 matches.

Rajasthan HC denies interim protection from arrest

The Rajasthan High Court declined to halt the arrest of Dayal in a case concerning the alleged rape of a minor girl on Wednesday (August 6).

The court emphasised that no interim protection from arrest can be granted to the accused cricketer since the victim is a minor.

Justice Sudesh Bansal, presiding over the matter in Jaipur, summoned the case diary and scheduled the next hearing for August 22.

During the hearing, Yash Dayal’s lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, contended that the case was part of a broader conspiracy aimed at defaming the cricketer.
