Sunderland’s academy continues to churn out promising young stars, and there might just be a new one for fans to keep an eye on in the coming months and years.Sunderland can credit their academy for producing some top Championship players in the last few years, and the production line is still moving on with more and more names promising to break into Regis Le Bris’ first-team squad.Next season we might see Trey Ogunsuyi become the next academy star to prevail at the Stadium of Light. Liverpool transfer target Ogunsuyi has been turning heads in the academy this season with nine goals in as many Premier League 2 games.There’s other names like Timur Tuterov who Sunderland fans keep hearing about. But the Black Cats put up a very good fight against a likewise opponent, especially so when considering that Murty tried something new and gave minutes to eight U18 players in what was an U21s clash, one being goal-scorer Felix Scott.The 16-year-old scored both goals during the game and turned heads on social media after several clips of him playing and scoring caught the attention of Black Cats fans, who are predicting that Le Bris might soon have another Rigg in his possession.Speaking after the game as well, Murty hailed Scott’s performance, telling the club: “Felix has been training well and earned his chance, and I’m delighted he made such a strong impression. To score twice on your debut is something special – he’ll remember that for a long time. But after watching the likes of Chris Rigg make an impact in the first-team when he was only 16, now 17, Scott may well be dreaming of a first-team as soon as this season, especially if the Black Cats wrap up a play-off spot with several games to spare.Sunderland’s first-team are back in action against Norwich City on Tuesday.
