Pakistan tour star Muthusamy, World Cup wonder Wolvaardt clinch ICC monthly honours

South African batting all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy has been named the ICC Player of the Month for the month for October 2025 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The 31-year-old defeated fellow nominees Noman Ali (Pakistan) and Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) to bag the prestigious honour.

Senuran Muthusamy was a key figure in South Africa’s unit during their last month’s two-match Test tour of Pakistan, where he won the ‘Player of the Series’ award for his all-round heroics in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Senuran Muthusamy earns major boost ahead of India challenge

Senuran Muthusamy has been rewarded by the ICC for his stellar all-round performance against Pakistan in the month of October. Speaking with the ICC, the cricketer expressed his excitement for winning the award, saying that he feels honoured to be representing a side that won the World Test Championship (WTC) this year.

Senuran Muthusamy said:

“Feels great to be named Player of the Month by ICC. Playing for a side that won WTC this year is a matter of great pride.”

Senuran Muthusamy pipped Noman Ali and Rashid Khan for his splendid all-round exhibition against Pakistan in October. In the first Test of the two-match series in Lahore, the cricketer picked up five-wicket hauls in each innings, including a career-best six-fer to claim a match haul of 11-174. He also scored a gritty 89* in the series-decider in Rawalpindi as South Africa won the match by eight wickets to level 1-1.

Laura Wolvaardt wins women’s category for World Cup heroics

South African captain Laura Wolvaardt, meanwhile, won the ICC Player of the Month award under the women’s category for her 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup heroics. The legendary opener shattered numerous records in the tournament, and aggregated 571 runs in just nine innings at a prolific average of 67.14.

She plundered two hundreds in the competition, one each in the semifinal and the final against England and eventual winners India respectively.
