Watch: Angry Sai Sudharsan Confronts Ben Duckett's Sledging, Fans Call Hypocrisy

A viral video shows Ben Duckett engaging in fiery sledging of Sai Sudharsan even as the latter walks off after getting out.

Even before the English pundits could be done with criticising Indian pacer Akash Deep for his send-off to Ben Duckett, the latter has added fuel to the fire on his end, too.

Just before Stumps on the second day in the fifth Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test, Duckett was seen sledging Sai Sudharsan when the latter was walking off after being declared out. A now-viral video on X (formerly Twitter) shows Sudharsan having an unhappy turn around and confronting the Englishman, before Harry Brook and Ollie Pope came in between to separate the duo. A perusal of the English media would show headlines calling out Akash Deep for his send-off to Duckett earlier in the day. Duckett was provoking Akash, telling him that he couldn’t get him out at the ground. The pacer responded by putting his hand around the opener after he had just done that.

For example, here’s what former cricket David Lloyd wrote in his column for The Daily Mail: “Once the batsman is dismissed, that should be the end. Akash Deep should not have put his arm around Ben Duckett and KL Rahul did the right thing by pulling him away. It’s the last thing you want as a batsman. That kind of reaction should only be saved after a momentous innings or a milestone."

Marcus Trescothick, the assistant coach, called it ‘strange’ and warned that many people would respond to it with an ‘elbow’ into the pacer. An English presenter even asked Ricky Ponting if, in his time, something like this would have resulted in a punch to the bowler, and the Australian legend agreed.

Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna faced similar criticism for sledging Joe Root a few overs after Duckett’s dismissal. Social media and pundits repeatedly accused Prasidh of saying something ‘nasty’ to upset one of the ‘nicest guys’ in the sport. Now, Indian fans are hitting back at Duckett with a bit of sarcasm.
