However, India fell apart in the second session, which is also when Malhotra went into three figures. They started with a score of 159/1 in 26 overs. India then went on to lose nine wickets in the session, with spinner Ralphie Albert taking six, and were all out for 279 runs. England thus started their second innings with a 30-run lead and openers BJ Dawkins and Adam Thomas inflated that to 123 as they stayed alive till the end of the day. The hosts were 93/0 at Stumps.
