Eagles HC Nick Sirianni makes feelings known after Jalen Hurts faces heat

0
Jalen Hurts has managed to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to the playoffs in each of his four seasons as a full-time starter while also leading them to Super Bowl appearances in two of the past three seasons. He has, however, faced plenty of criticism for his play style, with pundits claiming that he is not an elite quarterback.

Nick Sirianni defended the two-time Pro Bowler from such criticism following their latest NFC Championship Game victory. Speaking with the media, the Eagles coach stated:

"We've been through a lot together, right? A lot of wins, some down times, but that's what kind of forges relationships, and I don't want anybody else leading this team at quarterback other than him. He is a winner.

"Again, he deals with so much criticism which just blows my mind because of the questions I have to answer. I don't look too much into that, but the questions that I have to answer, it's just like, man this guy wins."

Sirianni continued:

"I mean, he's won his entire life. If you're winning as a quarterback, it's more important than any stat. I'm sure it'll be the same thing, like, 'Oh, he's got great players around him.' Well, you tell me a quarterback that's won like this that has s**t around him. It don't happen, right? ... The guys that have been so good at this position have had great players around."

He finished with 246 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while completing 71.4% of his pass attempts and adding 16 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries.

The extent of Jalen Hurts' winning

Jalen Hurts has spent seven years as a full-time starter at the collegiate and NFL level, and as his coach pointed out, all he has done is win. Philadelphia Eagles fan @TerryFranconia shared the extent of his winning ways on Sunday, tweeting:

"Jalen Hurts in the 7 years as a full time starter in College and the NFL lead his team to the ... National championship ... National championship ... College Football playoffs ... Playoffs ... Super Bowl ... Playoffs ... Super Bowl ... All Jalen Hurts does is win football games!!!"
