The Brisbane Lions provide the following injury update on Co-Captain Lachie Neale and forward Eric Hipwood.Neale, who came from the field in the final quarter of last night’s Qualifying Final against Geelong with a calf injury, will undergo scans in Brisbane this afternoon. The Club will provide a full update on Neale once his scan results are available and have been reviewed. The Lions also confirm Hipwood will not take part in Club’s 2025 finals campaign due to injury.Hipwood, who was sidelined with a calf strain from the Round 23 win over Fremantle, will have surgery this week on his left knee. The forward underwent an investigative knee scan for a separate treatment matter, leading to an incidental finding of a partial tearing of his repaired ACL, which puts him at risk of further complications.Following surgical review, it was recommended Hipwood undergoes an ACL repair.Hipwood will have surgery this week to give him the best chance to return to playing as early as possible in 2026.Brisbane Lions General Manager Football Danny Daly said the Club was throwing its support behind Hipwood.“Having Eric miss the finals series through injury is really devastating for him and his family and for us as a Club,” Daly said“Eric is an extremely valuable player and a premiership forward who was a key to helping the Club experience the ultimate success last season.“While we would love to have Eric out there this September, we will all be supporting him and playing for him during our finals campaign.“It’s an incredible effort by Eric to have been playing each week with this injury and still giving his all to the team regardless.“We know he will do everything to get back playing as soon as he can and we look forward to having him return.”
