Danish Kaneria criticized Pakistan's Asia Cup loss to India, highlighting the destructive opening partnership of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, who made a mockery of Pakistan's 171/5. Kaneria lauded the Indian openers' aggressive counterattack, which left Pakistan's bowlers clueless. He also dismissed Fakhar Zaman's potential complaints about his dismissal, asserting it was a clean catch.Shubman Gill (L) and Abhishek Sharma (R) put the game past Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4s. (AP)Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria criticised Pakistan's loss to India in the Asia Cup Super 4s clash on Sunday, where India chased down Pakistan's total of 171/5 with a dominant six-wicket victory led by Abhishek Sharma's aggressive 74 and Shubman Gill's 47. India's openers put on a commanding display, adding 105 runs in the first 10 overs to set up the successful chase. Abhishek Sharma's 39-ball 74 included six fours and five sixes, while Gill contributed 47 off 28 balls.‘They complement each other perfectly,’ Suryakumar Kumar on Abhishek Sharma-Shubman Gill stand vs PakistanFor Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 58, and Faheem Ashraf provided late impetus with an unbeaten 20 off eight deliveries. "Sahibzada Farhan signalled an AK-47, but then Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma launched a BrahMos of their own with the bat — and Sharma even followed it with a flying kiss. That's how you do it. The Indian openers' counterattack was so destructive that Pakistan players were left bamboozled. There's 'dhulai' and then there's 'maha dhulai'. This was the latter," Kaneria told news agency IANS. "When you have players like Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill as openers, even 200 can look like a small total against them on such a wicket. Both are class players," he added. Kaneria also addressed the controversy surrounding Fakhar Zaman's dismissal. Zaman, who had started well with two boundaries off Bumrah, was caught behind by Sanju Samson off Hardik Pandya in the third over. "Now Pakistan will look for another scapegoat, and they've found one in Fakhar Zaman 's dismissal. He'll cry now, saying he wasn't out. But it was a clear and clean catch by Sanju Samson — the gloves were clearly underneath the ball. And yet Pakistan will surely cry over it, talking about 'benefit of doubt'. Fakhar will cling to this excuse," said Kaneria. India's next match is against Bangladesh on Thursday, while Pakistan face Sri Lanka on Wednesday.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social Media
