Rebosura’s goal seals dominant Capital1 title victory

With a determined defense that held through in a tense final, Capital1 edged Kaya FC-Iloilo, 1-0, to take the PAGSS Women’s Futsal Cup on Sunday at University of Asia and the Pacific gymnasium.

The Solar Strikers’ breakthrough win came just five months after Capital1’s entry into women’s football—and it came in style. Regine Rebosura delivered the winning goal in the second half, capping a composed tournament performance where Capital1 went undefeated in six matches.

And just like that, sisters Mandy and Milka Romero have finally struck gold in their foray into sports.

“Our team showed resilience and cohesion from the very start,” said Mandy Romero. “This title is a meaningful step for our young Solar Strikers squad. With experienced players and elite coaching, we’re building a solid foundation.”

The Solar Strikers, mentored by FEU coaching great Let Dimzon, opened their campaign with a 2-0 win over Makati FC and followed up with a 10-0 demolition of Forza, a 1-0 result against Pinay5, and a 5-0 rout of Beach Hut. In the semifinal, they survived a scare from Azzurri FC, escaping with a 3-2 win.

Anchoring the back was Yasmin Elauria, whose stellar showing earned her the Bootcamp Golden Glove award. Rebosura, who scored key goals throughout the tournament, was named Adidas MVP.

Both headlined the Cherry Turf Mythical Five, joined by Yonah Dela Calzada (Makati FC), Maye Mendaño (Kaya FC-Iloilo) and Regina Aliping (Azzurri FC).

“We want to continue supporting women’s football,” said Romero. “This is just the beginning.”

The Romeros also have a team in the the PVL, the Capital1 Solar Spikers, who are optimistic about their upcoming season with No. 1 pick Bella Belen, a three-time MVP and champion in the UAAP, leading the way.
