Former Australian white-ball captain has heaped praise on Pakistan’s batting sensation , calling him the "greatest player of this decade" following his marquee signing with the Sydney Sixers for the Big Bash League (BBL) Season 15.

Speaking to the media, Finch expressed excitement over Babar’s inclusion, calling it a major boost for the league. “There’s no bigger name than among Pakistani players in the BBL draft,” Finch said. “He’s the best player in world cricket right now. His participation in the Big Bash is a huge win for fans and the competition alike.”

The Sydney Sixers confirmed Babar’s signing on Friday, using their pre-draft overseas player slot to secure the star batter. This marks Babar’s debut in the BBL and positions him among the highest-paid international players in the tournament’s history. Sources revealed he was picked in the Platinum category through a pre-draft deal reportedly worth around PKR 10 crore, well above the base price of PKR 7.75 crore.

Finch also praised Shaheen Shah Afridi, labeling the Pakistani pacer as a match-winner and one of the most sought-after players in the BBL draft. “Shaheen is a top performer. Every franchise would love to have him,” Finch added, expressing enthusiasm for the influx of international talent in the upcoming season.
