Mbeumo deal done as winner named in Tottenham and Man United battle – Exclusive

Bryan Mbeumo has decided who to join after a transfer battle between Tottenham and Manchester United.

The Cameroon international has been at the centre of a tug of war in recent weeks as Brentford look set to lose their star man.

There was a hope that the scales could be tipped in favour of the Lilywhites after the introduction of Thomas Frank as the new head coach in N17.

Now it appears that the 25-year-old is set to complete a summer move and put pen to paper on a sizable contract away from the Gtech Community Stadium.

This is certainly an attractive prospect for potential big-name signings as the new Danish boss looks to build his ideal squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That has seen Brentford duo Rico Henry and Mbeumo be linked with a switch across the capital, with a move for the latter seeming close at one stage.

Unfortunately for Frank, it appears that the North London outfit looks set to miss out on the signing of the wide forward this summer.

This comes after former Bees boss Martin Allen revealed that the Cameroonian ace is set to sign an £11.5million-per-year deal with Manchester United.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “From what I’ve been told, Tottenham have matched the offer of Manchester United of £60million.

“However, the wages available at Manchester United, I’m led to believe, is £240k-a-week, Tottenham won’t pay that.

“The player will go where the biggest salary is.

“I know Thomas Frank is a big supporter of Mbeumo, but I think he’ll end up going to United.

“At £60m and £240k-a-week, it’s as good as a done deal.“

It will come as a huge blow to the Lilywhites to miss out on someone who has arguably been their main target of the window to this point.

To decide on a bigger wage as opposed to Champions League football is a bold call, but has it’s benefits from a family perspective for Mbeumo.

Now, Spurs have to turn their attentions to other targets, with this snub potentially enabling a potential swoop for Ebere Eze at Crystal Palace.

Frank has to turn this frustration into a positive point to help build a side ready for what is bound to be a difficult season on all fronts.
