IND-A heads into the third day trailing AUS-A by 416 runs with nine wickets in hand. Openers Abhimanyu Easwaran and N Jagadeesan helped the home side to a steady start. But the former was bowled by Liam Scott, bringing Sai Sudharsan to the crease.

Earlier, Josh Philippe cashed in on a dropped catch to score a fiery hundred, unleashing a rain of boundaries. Xavier Bartlett chipped in with a handy knock as AUS-A posted a formidable total of 532/6 before declaring.

Easwaran survives a very close call. He went off for a quick single. It was a direct hit, third umpire took time before marking Easwaran safe. Would’ve been run out for just 1 otherwise.

Declaration. Bartlett smacks a four towards midwicket and Australia has declared at 532/6 after 98 overs.

6,4,4,4,1,0 - 19 runs off that over from Harsh Dubey. The first two were from slogs towards midwicket followed by two cover drives.

Philippe soon brings up his hundred. A quick single to get to his century. A stunning innings by Philipe. He gets there in just 80 balls with 16 fours and two sixes. Lovely striking and clean hitting.

AUS-A 491/6 in 95 overs

Another drop catch, this time by Khaleel. Bartlett goes for a pull, gets a top edge. Khaleel at deep fine leg gets under it but the ball pops out of his hands.

To add salt to the wound, Brar perfects his pull in the same over of Brar and gets a four.

Josh Philippe was dropped on 26 by Jagadeesan and it went for four, informs Sahil.

Sahil Mathur: Philippe has begun with a positive intent today. Looking to work the ball and finding gaps than defend. New ball hasn’t moved a lot so far - just the regular nip, nothing extraordinary.

AUS-A 388/5 in 83 overs

The wicketkeeper-batter has picked three boundaries in the first half hour and has moved to 21 off just 24 balls. India A now banking on the new ball to aid its pursuit of wickets.

Sahil Mathur: Fifty for Liam Scott. Nice innings by the 24-year-old Aussie who came in at a tough time yesterday but counter-attacked to steady the innings. He has been cautious this morning so far.

‘Exciting’ Konstas gets off to perfect start in Ashes opener audition

In the first unofficial Test here at the Ekana Stadium against India A, Konstas smashed 109 off 144 deliveries, hitting three sixes and 10 fours.

It’s good spending time in the middle today. I felt like I had to face quite a few mental demons just to get through that. There were obviously different challenges, and it was all about trying to adapt to the condition.

It was good to get a partnership going with Kellaway, which I thought helped me a lot. I enjoyed batting with him; I had good chats about our plans and how we were going to go against each bowler.
