Crewe's Lunt handed two-match ban for simulation

Crewe midfielder Owen Lunt has been banned for two games after being found guilty of simulation in the Alex's 2-1 defeat by Barnet.

The Railwaymen were awarded a penalty with the scores level at 1-1 after Lunt went down in the box following Danny Collinge's challenge.

The 21-year-old denied the charge of improper conduct, but it was upheld by an independent regulatory commission and he will now be unavailable for Crewe's next two League Two fixtures, against Barrow and Notts County.

"It was alleged that the player committed a clear act of simulation, which led to a penalty kick, and this behaviour amounts to improper conduct," said a Football Association statement on social media platform X.

Crewe's Max Sanders failed to convert the spot-kick, with Bees goalkeeper Ciaran Slicker producing his second penalty save of the game before the visitors went on to snatch a late winner through Ryan Glover.
