Friedkins pull off financial masterclass with showcase Everton fixture – Exclusive

Everton are primed for a landmark season as they move to their new home at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Brighton will be the Toffees’ first Premier League opponent at their 52,888-seater stadium in the second game of the season.

Everton have already secured Carlos Alcaraz on a permanent deal after he spent last season on loan in the North West.

David Moyes’ side have also reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Kenny Tete, who is available on a free transfer.

Everton given financial boost amid AS Roma fixture

The Friedkin Group owns Everton and AS Roma, and they have wasted no time in establishing links between the two clubs.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Everton will host the Italian side at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 9 August, making it the first full-capacity event on Bramley-Moore Dock.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has spoken about the financial aspect of the fixture.

“This is a great example of how you tie up these associations, leverage the commercial opportunity, and play on how you can tie the networks together that you’ve got through an ownership group,” he said.

“It’s the final test event in a brand new stadium at full house capacity before a new Premier League season.

“You’ve got a showcase fixture with what is an Italian powerhouse as a club, but it’s all tied into Friedkin and the ownership group and connections as well.

“You can leverage that commercially. You can leverage that through any which way possible, in terms of making that not just a meaningful pre-season friendly, but a real curtain raiser to that stadium and moving into a new season.

“It’s a great example of how you can tie up synergies between ownership structures, groups, networks, and how you can leverage that financially as well.”

David Moyes should treat Roma friendly like Premier League match

While Moyes will need his players to be fit for the new Premier League season, he will want his players to showcase their talent against Roma.

The Italian side enjoyed a successful 2024/25 campaign in Serie A by finishing fifth, meaning they will play in the Europa League next season.

Roma possess a side full of quality and will provide a solid test for the Toffees, who will seek a landmark win.

Whether Moyes will have many new signings to choose from remains to be seen, but Everton supporters will want to watch their new stars shine.
