Alan Shearer's Man Utd verdict speaks volumes as Liverpool tipped for another big win

Alan Shearer reckons Liverpool will be the big winners of the Premier League's Boxing Day fixtures.

But there's not much Christmas cheer in store for Ruben Amorim and Manchester United, who Shearer says could struggle to find a way past struggling Wolves.

Liverpool spent Christmas at the top of the league and face Leicester on Thursday hoping to extend their fine form under new head coach, Arne Slot. He has lost just one league game since arriving at Anfield - and Shearer doesn't see that changing against the Foxes.

"You have to fear for Leicester in this one, I watched them concede four against Newcastle, the other day they conceded three against Wolves and they look all over the place defensively," the Betfair ambassador said.

"You have to worry for them going to Anfield with the form they’re in. Liverpool may smell blood here and they may get a few."

Elsewhere, he thinks Manchester United will have to settle for a draw when they face Wolves, who enjoyed a dream start to life under their new boss, Vitor Pereira.

"What a result it was for Wolves against Leicester, that was a massive game for them and their new manager, for them to go and beat Leicester up as they did and claw themselves closer to them was big.

"Man United are really poor all over the pitch at this moment in time and will find this tricky. I’m going to go for a draw."

Shearer is tipping a win for Arsenal, who face Ipswich Town. And the Newcastle legend even reckons Pep Guardiola will get a Christmas reprieve.

The Manchester City boss is currently in the midst of the worst run of results of his entire managerial career. But Shearer fancies City will beat Everton despite their poor performance against Aston Villa at the weekend.

He added: "Everton have been to Arsenal and got a draw, they went to Chelsea and got a draw, and those are two great statements, no doubt they would have taken your hand off to get two points out of those games.

"City have been really poor in every department, and it was alarming how many time Villa got through them in midfield because of their lack of press and energy.

"With City being back at home, I think they’ll get back to winning ways, how impressive they will be I’m not sure, but I think they’ll get three points against Everton."
