Gary Neville left with egg on his face one year on from brutal Liverpool predictionGary Neville's prediction that Liverpool would be "f***ed for 30 years" after Jurgen Klopp's exit has come back to bite him one year on from the shock news.Klopp announced he would be ending his nine-year reign at Anfield on January 26 last year, leaving fans worried for the future of the club after the incredible success he had overseen since his arrival in 2015.The German won the Premier League, Champions League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups - as well as the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup and his departure led to fears the Reds could be stuck in the wilderness for a number of years. His successor Arne Slot, however, has made a mockery of those concerns, leading Liverpool to the top of the Premier League with a six-point margin over Arsenal.Liverpool also lead the Champions League standings and have qualified for the last-16, while they remain in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup too.Club legend Jamie Carragher revealed how Neville had teased him over the initial news Klopp was leaving last year, as his Sky Sports colleague made a bold prediction."I wake up and I get the Klopp news," Carragher said on the Stick to Football podcast. "[Neville] then text me saying he's in the same place skiing. I was like oh no. Can I read you what he sent me? I am in Courchevel. Your manager is f***ing off and that's you lot f***ed for another 30 years."Image: Chris Brunskill/Fantasista) Chris Brunskill/Fantasista)It's not the first time Neville has been left red-faced over a Liverpool prediction after double-downing on his belief that the team would be impacted by Klopp's exit.He told Monday Night Football in August: "I think Liverpool, my view would be that the impact of (Jurgen) Klopp will take its toll. The evidence of history. There will be some pain at some point this season and it could cost them."I think Liverpool have a better team than Manchester United, far better forwards. But I really do question whether that Liverpool midfield can stand up over the season. I think Manchester United have got more depth in midfield."After Neville praised Liverpool months later, Slot hit back: "He had a different opinion on us at the start of the season, which probably most people had about us, except our fans. We don't look at it at this moment like this."Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
