Rabat — The Atlas Lions gathered on Monday for their first training session at the Complexe Mohammed VI de Football in Maâmora as the final preparations for two friendly matches begin.The matches against Mozambique on November 14 and Uganda on November 18 will be played at the Grand Stade de Tanger in Tangier, both at 20:00 local time.The friendlies are the last test before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026. Morocco is in Group A with Comoros, Mali and Zambia, with big expectations on home soil.Training session and squadThe session lasted around 90 minutes and included warm-ups, ball circulation work, and light recovery drills to help the players get back into rhythm after being back from their clubs. Coach Walid Regragui and his staff worked on the tactical balance and team cohesion, the intensity was high throughout the team.A 27-man squad was called up for this window. Romain Saïss, Soufiane Rahimi, and Sofiane Diop are back. Anass Salah-Eddine (PSV Eindhoven) gets his first call-up, and Achraf Hakimi is out injured. Medicals were also done, Nayef Aguerd was monitored for a minor groin issue but not completely ruled out.The Tangier matches are similar to a tournament, Mozambique will press high and Uganda will test Morocco’s defensive transitions. The team will move from Maâmora to Tangier mid-week for venue familiarisation sessions.
