Everton have now spoken to 'exciting' player's camp, move is looking likely

Everton’s search for a new number nine is beginning to ramp up during the short break in the window.

The Friedkins have so far confirmed the permanent signing of Carlos Alcaraz for David Moyes, but there is a demand to add goals.

Everton’s main priority is signing a new striker this summer with a number of players on the radar of Angus Kinnear.

It is expected to be a busy summer for the Blues with plenty of work going on behind the scenes.

But Everton have already been hit with some early blows as Liam Delap chose to join Chelsea over them earlier in the month.

With focus now being turned to other targets, Everton are now looking to ramp up their pursuit of Villarreal striker Thierno Barry.

Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Chief Correspondent Graeme Bailey has provided an update on what is now going on behind the scenes to land the striker.

Everton in talks to sign Thierno Barry

It has been suggested Everton are readying a £33m bid for Barry who will have to be prised away from Spain with Villarreal offering Champions League football.

Although the Yellow Submarine are keen to keep hold of Barry, Bailey now believes that is looking increasingly unlikely as Everton’s interest grows.

“Thierno Barry is a player of significant interest to Everton although they are not alone in their liking of him,” he told Everton News.

“Villarreal were hoping of keeping him for another season, but that looks unlikely now.

“Everton have had conversations with his camp, confirming their interest and to gauge about what it would take to get him.”

Reports have claimed Barry is happy at Villarreal, but Everton’s interest in the player could convince him on a move to the Premier League.

Everton are hoping their new stadium will attract players as they look to make a major leap forward in the Friedkins’ first summer at the club.

Everton face serious competition for their striker targets

Having already missed out on Delap, Everton face further competition for some of their other targets this summer.

According to reports, Chelsea have opened talks with Nick Woltemade despite Everton being informed he would not be leaving VfB Stuttgart.

The striker market is already proving extremely competitive with clubs across Europe looking to add goals to their side.

A considerable amount of signings are needed at Everton this summer and a new striker is at the top of that agenda.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to leave Everton, Moyes is to be left with just Beto and Youssef Chermiti until a new face is added.

Barry has been hailed an ‘exciting’ prospect by talent scout Jacek Kulig and he appears to be the player the new look Everton recruitment setup is now looking to sign.
