Liverpool have been told they could sweep the board of honours if they are successful in their pursuit of Alexander Isak. The striker is currently in dispute with Newcastle United having set his heart on a move to Anfield this summer.

The Reds earlier this month saw a £110million bid emphatically rejected by the Magpies and opted not to make a second offer having been told the player was not for sale.

The landscape, though, has since altered dramatically with Isak continuing to train away from the Newcastle first team and reports earlier this week claiming he has told the Tynesiders he has no intention of ever playing for them again.

Liverpool remain interested in Isak but won't make another offer unless Newcastle ease their stance on not being willing to part with the forward at any price.

Nevertheless, the growing consensus among the football community is the Sweden international will be a Reds player by the time the transfer window closes on September 1.

And former Millwall, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth forward Teddy Sheringham believes Isak can make a huge difference to Liverpool and would have no issue adapting to the style of play under Arne Slot.

“Success for Isak is winning the treble for Liverpool and I think he can do that," said Sheringham, who also had a spell at Manchester United, where he won the Premier League.

“I think he will get enough chances. He might have to change his game slightly because people play differently at Newcastle than they do when they go to Liverpool."

Speaking to Snabbare, Sheringham added: “He will have to play with his back to goal a little bit more rather than running in behind but I think he can do everything as a player.

“The chances will come. He's proven it at this level. He's played in the Premier League. He can score goals against all the centre-halves that are out there. He will have no problem fitting into the Liverpool system for me.”

Another Premier League winner, former Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero, has been impressed with Liverpool's attacking signings and believes Isak would be a significant purchase.

Speaking to Stake.com, Aguero said: "Isak's potential arrival could make them very dangerous, offensively. On the one hand, Liverpool just lost two major forwards: Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz

"On the other, (Florian) Wirtz coming from the Bundesliga should add some playmaking capability. And (Hugo) Ekitike has shown a knack for goalscoring at Eintracht, so he should be another factor too."
