New Zealand included all-rounder Tim Robinson in the side for the 1st T20I match against Australia, and the 23-year-old came of age in style. Robinson, who was a forced change in the side in place of an injured Rachin Ravindra, scored his maiden international T20I hundred, scoring 106 runs off 66 balls and helped New Zealand set a score of 181 runs in their 20 overs.Who is Tim Robinson? As per ESPNCricinfo, Robinson was a javelin thrower at Wellington College before he became a professional cricketer. The explosive top-order batter had found a role at the Wellington Firebirds in the Men's Super Smash league in 2021. In the 2023-24 season, Robinson scored 298 runs in six innings at an average of 59.60 and a strike rate of 187.42.Around four months later, Robinson made his debut for New Zealand in T20I cricket during a match against Pakistan in April 2024. The batter also made his debut in ODIs in November against Sri Lanka. In the three ODI matches played so far, the batter has scored 48 runs at an average of 16 and a strike rate of 102.12. From there, Robinson stitched a partnership with Daryl Mitchell and then with Bevon Jacobs. Robinson hit the century on the last ball of the Kiwi innings. However, the efforts of Robinson and other Kiwi batters went in vain as Mitchell Marsh set off a storm with his 85-run knock (off 43 balls) along with some contributions from Travis Head, Mathew Short, and Tim David.Ultimately, the Aussies chased down the total in just 16.3 overs and handed a 6-wicket defeat to the Kiwis in the 1st T20I match of the series. New Zealand will now have the chance to come back in the series in the 2nd T20I clash on 3rd October
