It did not take Nick Woltemade long to show everyone at Newcastle United what he is all about.

There was a sense of uncertainty heading into Saturday’s game. With Yoane Wissa injured, the pressure was on Nick Woltemade to step up.

Newcastle wanted to be patient with the 23-year-old, but that simply was not possible. Immediately thrust into the starting XI, it was sink or swim.

Fortunately, he delivered. Woltemade enjoyed a perfect debut, scoring the only goal of the game as Newcastle beat Wolves 1-0.

The Germany international is already a hero on Tyneside, and he had a clear message for his teammates after his first appearance in black and white.

Nick Woltemade said three things during Newcastle United dressing room speech

After Newcastle fans sang Woltemade’s name, the new superstar striker headed into the dressing room to celebrate with his teammates.

According to the Athletic, Woltemade actually gave a short speech inside the dressing room following his dream debut.

They report that the Magpies’ record signing told his teammates that he had been made to feel very welcome, was happy to be a Newcastle United player and thanked Jacob Murphy for setting up his first Toon goal.

Newcastle United players were unsure about Nick Woltemade as Benjamin Sesko struggles

No one knew what to expect from Woltemade. While there has been excitement surrounding his arrival, there have also been concerns that it could take him a little bit of time to adapt to English football.

Those concerns extended to the Newcastle United squad, with the Athletic reporting that some Toon players were unsure how Woltemade’s debut against Wolves would go.

Fortunately, the £69million man has hit the ground running. It is a complete contrast to Benjamin Sesko at Manchester United.

Sesko chose Man United over Newcastle, but is so far struggling to make the Magpies feel bad about that decision.

The Slovenian has made five appearances for his new club, but is yet to open his account.
