WTT Youth Contender Vadodara 2025: Ankur Bhattacharjee, Syndrela Das win U19 titles

India’s Ankur Bhattacharjee and Syndrela Das won the under-19 boys' and girls’ singles titles, respectively, at the WTT Youth Contender Vadodara 2025 table tennis tournament, which concluded at the Sama Indoor Sports Complex on Saturday.

The 18-year-old Ankur Bhattacharjee defeated compatriot Abhinandh Pradhivadhi 3-0 (11-5, 18-16, 11-5) in the final. The two players had also met in the final of the U19 national championships earlier this year.

This was Ankur’s third WTT Youth Contender title at the Under-19 level. The Indian table tennis player recently won the U19 boys’ singles title at the WTT Youth Contender Cappadocia. His first title came in 2023 in Tunis.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old Syndrela Das beat Ananya Chande 3-2 (8-11, 11-7, 11-5, 9-11, 6-11) to lift the U19 title. Syndrela won the WTT Youth Contender Algiers 2024 at the under-15 level last year.

Players from India, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea, the United States of America, Australia, England and Antigua and Barbuda competed at the four-day youth table tennis tournament in Vadodara.

Competitions were held in 12 subevents across U19, U17, U15, U13 and U11 levels.

Meanwhile, Balamurugan Rajasekaran-Jennifer Varghese won the U19 mixed doubles crown, defeating Taneesha Kotecha and Preyesh Suresh 3-2 (11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 1-11, 12-10).

Divyanshi Bhowmick was also among the standout performers in Vadodara, winning the titles at the U17 and U15 levels. She was the only singles player to win competitions in two different subevents.
