Adelaide and Brisbane are reportedly on track to drag out negotiations for dual premiership forward Callum Ah Chee until the final day of the trade period, as neither club has come close to an agreement for Ah Chee's value in a return package.According to SEN's Sam Edmund, the Crows and Lions are "miles apart" on a potential trade, with Brisbane demanding Adelaide's first-round pick, which currently resides as Pick 16, or a future first-round selection.Adelaide are only willing to offer a future second-round pick, which Edmund stated "has been on the table for days" as the clubs approach a stalemate for the 28-year-old.Ah Chee played 124 games in the maroon, blue and gold and kicked 51 goals in the Lions pair of premiership seasons, which ranked eighth for Brisbane between 2024-2025.Crows General Manager of List Management Justin Reid commented on the breakdown in talks on AFL Trade Radio on Friday, firming Adelaide's stance on their first-round selection, regardless of how highly the club values Ah Chee."We've been pretty consistent with that [a first-round pick won't be traded]," Reid said."We have had those conversations, without going into too much detail. Obviously, we value Cal highly, and so does Brisbane, and that's something we just need to work through."Our Pick 16 or a future [first-round pick] is probably not something that's going to be part of that discussion.“What we hope for is a fair and reasonable deal for both parties because Cal's been really clear that he's keen to get to the Adelaide Football Club.”Ah Chee is set to sign a five-year contract at the West Lakes-based outfit should a trade eventually go through, which AFL Media's Cal Twomey suggested was a key aspect of the forward's desire to leave the building dynasty in Queensland."He's got links in South Australia, he's got a good relationship with Murray Davis, the assistant coach of the Crows," Twomey said earlier in October."The five-year deal is a significant aspect of it in terms of the tenure and security that brings. Brisbane also have had four years on the table and the trigger for a fifth but ultimately, Ah Chee has been won over by the Crows and wants to get there."
