Adrian Dodoro's 'abusive text' called out amid stinging Essendon criticism

Essendon remains a club in crisis as it deals with captain Zach Merrett’s future and a looming board challenge.

Merrett is trying to force a move to Hawthorn, while president David Barham is coming under increasing pressure ahead of what’s expected to be a busy off-season.

The current instability prompted veteran journalist Rohan Connolly to launch a withering criticism aimed at those outside forces trying to destabilise the club.

“The guys (currently leading the club) have tried to effect change, but they’re constantly so paranoid about being tipped out or schemed against,” he said on 3AW Football.

“They tried to give (former list manager) Adrian Dodoro the flick, and it took them two years to do it because they had to gently usher him out.”

“Adrian Dodoro will probably send me an abusive text (after this), he does it every couple of months.”
