Man City have a record fourth successive league title in their sights, but boss Pep Guardiola has warned his players that one slip-up will hand Arsenal the trophy

Pep Guardiola has told his Manchester City players – one slip-up and you can say goodbye to the title.

City, chasing a record fourth straight Premier League title, trail leaders Arsenal by a point with three games left to play. Guardiola is convinced the Gunners will win their remaining two games, including Sunday's visit to Manchester United, meaning City must take maximum points to retain the title.

City can go top and put the pressure on Arsenal by winning at Fulham on Saturday, 24 hours before Mikel Arteta's side play their penultimate game at Old Trafford.

But Guardiola says playing before or after Arsenal makes no difference, with the City boss adamant his side must win their remaining games.

“If we play Fulham before or after Arsenal, we still have to win,” said Guardiola. “And Arsenal know they have to win.

“Not just the the players, the staff, the fans - everyone knows you cannot make one little mistake, because you will lose the Premier League.

“They know it, we know it, with what happened with Liverpool in the past. We arrived here (at Wolves) and the players knew 'guys, if we don’t win, Ciao, Ciao, bye-bye, next season we see each other'.

“It’s not complicated. It doesn’t matter if we play before or after. Hopefully we win against Fulham, then Arsenal will play at Old Trafford, where they [United] are playing for the Europa League.

“But I said, if we don’t win we won't be champions, so when that happens it’s easier.” On Arsenal, Guardiola said: “You see the level of consistency since the winter break, the way they're playing.

“It’s not the fact that they're winning, it’s the way they play, so you smell that they're not going to lose in the games they have left. They're not going to.”
