Forecasting first loss for college football's top eight teams in 2025

USA TODAY's preseason Coaches Poll released Monday, with Texas ranked No. 1 in the top 25 for the first time in program history. The Longhorns face preseason No. 2 Ohio State in Columbus in Week 1, setting the stage for an early loss for one of the top teams in the nation.

Emory Hunt of CBS Sports joined Jaclyn DeAugustino on CBS Sports HQ to pinpoint the first loss for each team in the top eight of the 2025 preseason Coaches Poll. He predicts that only one of these top eight teams will finish the regular season undefeated.

It's set to be an exciting first month of college football, with four of the preseason top eight projected to suffer their first loss by the end of September, drastically altering the College Football Playoff race.
