The Brisbane Lions confirm defender Jack Payne has ruptured his patellar tendon and will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

Payne, who sustained the injury to his left knee during the first quarter of Saturday’s match with GWS, underwent scans which confirmed the club’s initial assessment.

The 25-year-old will meet with a surgeon to undergo surgery as soon as possible.

Brisbane Lions General Manager Football, Danny Daly said the Club was throwing all of its support behind Payne.

“It’s very unfortunate and tough to see Jack suffer this injury, particularly as he has been in almost career best form to start the season,” Daly said.

“Jack has shown before that he is incredibly resilient in overcoming injury, and we know he will do so again with a great medical team around him.

“Everyone at the Brisbane Lions, including our fans, are right behind Jack and his family and we will continue to support them on the road ahead.”
