Deal Close: Man Utd Planning Medical for 'Ridiculous' Star

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is set to undergo his Manchester United medical next week, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Cameroonian forward could reportedly finalise his move to Old Trafford in the coming days of the summer transfer window, with the two clubs now closing in on an agreement.

Brentford and Man United are believed to be in advanced talks over a package worth in excess of the £62.5m the Red Devils paid for Matheus Cunha earlier this month.

Mbeumo is believed to be giving priority to a Man United move after rejecting interest from Tottenham, who were looking to reunite him with head coach Thomas Frank.

Set to undergo medical next week

Mbeumo is coming off a career-best Premier League season, having scored 20 goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances for Brentford.

The 'ridiculous' 25-year-old forward has emerged as a priority signing for Man United’s footballing hierarchy, who are looking to bring more goals to Ruben Amorim’s side that netted just 44 times last season – the second lowest of any non-relegated side.

Mbeumo would become United’s second signing of the summer after Cunha, and there is an expectation that a new number nine’s arrival is likely to follow as well.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Mbeumo has scored 42 goals in 136 Premier League games for Brentford.

United now seem unlikely to succeed in their pursuit of long-term target Viktor Gyokeres, who has reportedly told Old Trafford chiefs his summer priority is to join Arsenal.

The 26-year-old striker could snub the chance of an Amorim reunion in Manchester in favour of playing Champions League football at the Emirates next season.

Gyokeres, whom Amorim signed from Coventry City in 2023, has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting since.
