Prithvi Shaw scored a century against his old team, Mumbai, in a warm-up match on Tuesday, showcasing his batting skills for his new team, Maharashtra. The 25-year-old and Arshin Kulkarni put together a huge 305-run opening partnership. As Shaw's innings finished at 181, he got into an argument with his former teammates.

The cause of the furious altercation between Mumbai all-rounder Musheer Khan and Maharashtra opener Prithvi Shaw on the first day of the warm-up match has been revealed.

Shaw was caught at deep fine-leg against Musheer, which led to the altercation. When tensions with the Mumbai players briefly increased, the umpire intervened to defuse the situation, and subsequently Shaw left but not before passing gestures at the opponent.

On the first day, Maharashtra were 430 for three at the stumps.

According to Cricbuzz, Musheer allegedly sledged Prithvi Shaw by saying "Thank you". Shaw became enraged at the send-off and attempted to swing his bat at the Mumbai player, as well as grab his collar.

"It's a practice match. They are all former teammates. Such things happen. It's all okay now and there is no issue," Ankit Bhawne, the captain of Maharashtra, was quoted as saying in the report.

Shaw recently moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra, and his 111 against Chhattisgarh in the Buchi Babu competition gave away his intentions with the new squad.

With a peak score of 379, Shaw has amassed 4,556 runs at an average of 46.02 in 58 first-class outings, including 13 hundreds and 18 half-centuries. He has 3,399 runs at 55.72 and a strike-rate of 125.74 in List-A games.
