Manchester United's new signings demonstrate that the club's legacy continues to make it a dream move for players to arrive at Old Trafford.

Despite facing a season without European football, Ruben Amorim's side has managed to secure three highly-rated forwards this summer. There may have been concerns about United's appeal in the transfer market after they finished 15th in the Premier League and suffered defeat in the Europa League final last season, missing out on a Champions League spot.

However, in their latest transfer swoop, United outmanoeuvred Newcastle to sign striker Benjamin Sesko, Fellow newcomers Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who was also on Newcastle's radar, already understood why Sesko was so keen to make the move.

Upon becoming United's first summer signing, Cunha shared: "It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality."

Similarly, Mbeumo admitted to being a United fan as a child, highlighting the club's lasting appeal: "As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up. "

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson stepping down as United boss in 2013, the club's halcyon days still resonate with players like Sesko. "The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future," the young striker said. "When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon."

United's success in landing their preferred signings sharply contrasts with Newcastle's troubles in the transfer window. A number of strikers, including Mbeumo and Sesko, have opted for different clubs despite Newcastle's recent trophy win and Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile, United manager Amorim will be looking forward to piecing together his revamped attack. With an urgent need for a centre-forward after Hojlund and Zirkzee's struggles for goals last term, Amorim is confident that Sesko is the right player to spearhead United's frontline.

"He has the characteristics that we needed," Amorim told MUTV. "Ben is a player - with all the information that we have - that we need to stop the guy from working, not the opposite!

"So that is also important. He's really young. He's good in the air, he's good at running the channels, good on the ball. I think he has great potential.

"I think he can improve a lot and, for sure, he is going to feel at home in our club. He has the right character to be in this group, so I'm really happy to have him."

Yet, United's summer overhaul is far from complete. Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, who commands a valuation of about £100m, has been identified as the next piece in United's puzzle as they aim to strengthen another key area of the squad.

United were also pleased to see club legend David De Gea return to Old Trafford for their last pre-season game on Saturday. Amorim's side played out a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, with the manager using the match to fine-tune his side ahead of their season opener against Arsenal next Sunday.
